KAISSO U15A & B girls Premiership tournament

KAISSO U15A girls Premiership tournament

The girls played in a tough pool stage winning their first two matches against Greensteds (1-0) and Premier (2-0). Goal scorers were Soila, Obakeng and Sina respectively. Despite losing their last game against Turi (1-0), the girls managed to top their pool and play BGR in a local derby semi-final. Another stunning goal from Obakeng saw the girls into the finals against Aga Khan. In what was an amazingly even game and extremely impressive football from both teams, they were forced into extra time, penalties, and sudden death penalties. Unfortunately, we were unlucky with sudden death penalties, and took home well deserved second place medals. A huge well done for the team effort and encouragement given by Soila (C) throughout the day.

KAISSO U15B girls Division 1 tournament

Our first match was against WNS. The girls were a bit nervous before the game started but settled as the game went on. The opening phase was quite even, with both teams competing for possession in the midfield. BGE defended well and frustrated the opponents, and it felt like it would end in a scoreless draw but WNS scored the first goal through their best player, who used her skills to take on defenders and took a powerful shot outside the box. We conceded a second goal because of miscommunication between the goalkeeper and her defender. Despite continued pressure we managed to pull one goal back through Marina, but it was not enough as WNS scored again towards the end of the match to win the match 3-1. The girls were disappointed with the result and were looking forward to improving in the next match. Up next was Peponi. The girls started well, defending as a team. We were on the receiving end for most of the game. Peponi continually pressed BGE and we could not get the ball out of their half. Peponi kept coming at us and Elsa, the GK, kept us in the game with brilliant saves. We finally conceded one and the goals kept coming. BGE lost 4-0.

Our final match of the pool was against St. Christopher's. The girls played well, dominating the game, but did not create many chances to score. BGE were unfortunate to concede from a counter attack. That goal did not stop them from playing well, as they went all-in in search of an equaliser. The pressure yielded as they were awarded a spot kick late in the game where Amal stepped up to take it with confidence, but was disappointed to send the ball wide. BGE lost 0-1. It was a disappointing outing for the girls, and with the determination they have, they will surely make a comeback in the future.
