Sixth Form

In years 12 & 13 BGE students have the opportunity to excel as part of a strong social and collegiate environment. The School philosophy and objectives is epitomised in sixth form as the pupils prepare for entry into University, under the guidance and mentorship of the Braeburn Group University Admissions Advisor. The majority of Year 13 graduates attain places in their first choice University and Alumni are currently studying at University of British Colombia, Edinburgh University, Bristol University, Maastricht University, Imperial College, Berkeley, University of Stellenbosch and many more.  

The level of independent student learning as well as mentorship from a dedicated team of coordinators ensures that the students' goals are considered and advised upon from entry into sixth form.

Curriculum

Braeburn Garden Estate Sixth form offers the International Baccalaureate and as well as delivering the Diploma Program, is proud to have been the first school to offer the IB Career Related Program (IBCP) in Africa and to have been involved in developing strong links with universities around the Globe.

The IB Diploma: This course involves students studying 6 academic subjects  (3 at Higher Level and 3 at Standard level) from a choice of nineteen over a range of academic disciplines, as well as a central 'core' of criteria including Theory of Knowledge, an Extended Essay and CAS*.

The IB Career related Program: This is a 'hybrid' course that combines the flexibility of a Business and Marketing BTEC course with the added benefit of studying two Diploma Program courses, bolstering the subject knowledge of the students. In addition students must undertake a language progression course, undertake a community service aspect and study Approaches to Learning.

In addition to the above courses all students have two lessons of games a week and are encouraged to maintain a high level of extracurricular involvement in clubs and sports squads.
