26th November 2023
It is arguably the biggest sporting event of the school year and from the off BGE was making their intentions clear. Arriving at the Moi International Sports Stadium, Kasarani, focused and looking every part of the unified team that they are.
The day coursed past and there was a steady stream of medals being awarded to BGE athletes, starting with a Gold in the U15 girls Hurdles for Elena (y10) & Billy (y10) who broke the meet record in the U15 boys high jump with an excellent leap of 1.75m. Y
There were some epic performances, including 2 outstanding 1500m races, and medals in 5 out of 8 relays! In case that was not inspiring enough some of the team got a sneaky selfie with the 2023 3000m steeplechase World Champion, Winfred Yavi.
Overall BGE came in 2nd after a resurgent St Andrews performance in the afternoon; our best standing and testament to the outstanding coaching by Ms O’Regan, Mr Ellis, and the rest of the staff who have been invested in the team’s development this term.
