Prefects' trip

BGE Prefects and House Captains participated in a two-day Leadership training experience at Hells Gate National Park.
Students hiked 10km over dusty terrain, set up their own tents and cooked their own evening meal and breakfast, managing to create gourmet menus from limited ingredients.
During the hike, they had to complete various challenging leadership and team building-focussed activities such as crossing a toxic river; putting up a tent blindfolded and making a stretcher from rope to transport a team-member. They were quietly observed by buffalo, wildebeest, zebra and giraffe.
An interactive workshop around the campfire introduced the students to various styles of leadership and they discussed which would be the most effective methods of leading in their roles.
The students excelled themselves and we are proud to have such a great team of Prefects and House Captains at BGE.
