U15 rugby & netball

10th May 2022

U15A netball v Peponi

The U15 girls' first outing against Peponi was a hotly contested affair with both sides settling into their first netball fixture in almost 2.5 years. BGE impressed when they moved the ball along the perimeter, making a cross court switches at just the right time to send the ball swiftly into the shooting circle. Maggie and in particular, Obakeng were in fine shooting form despite the recent break. Manna worked smartly in attack, feeding a lot of ball received from Natasha who dominated the wing defence position. Moving forward the girls will work on centre pass plays, retreating to defence quickly when dispossessed and intercepting high overhead balls.

Score: BGE 13 - Peponi 13

Next fixture: Saturday 14th May v BGR @ BGE, 9.30am start

U15B netball v Peponi
The B netball team started the term with a fantastic win against Peponi. Gala, leading the charges in the centre position, played a supportive role connecting defence to attack throughout. Muna and Khadija stood firm in the GK and GD positions while Saadiya displayed a masterclass in shooting in the GS role.

Next fixture: Saturday 14th May v BGR @ BGE, 9.30am start

U15A rugby v Peponi
The U15 boys started their campaign with a squad selection game vs Peponi. The game turned out to be a thriller as 19 boys all got a run out. Saffi scored BGE’s first try with Karim adding a second. Peponi eventually ran out 10-15 winners but for BGE to show no signs of weakening despite starting each third with a different team, is testimony to the depth in talent at U15. Both A and B teams have plenty of fixtures through what is sure to be an exciting term of rugby ahead.
