U15 rugby team continues to build steam

9th May 2017

Fresh from a well deserved break after the monumental game on Friday afternoon; the U15 rugby team travelled to St Christopher's for a fixture on Monday 8th May.

St Christopher's, who were the only team to vanquish last years U15 team, were in a strong position and used solid work at the breakdown to run in four tries before the break.

However a rejuvenated and much more expansive effort in the second half saw the team in yellow, avoid the breakdowns by moving the ball and waiting for spaces to open up. The result was four tries by BGE in the second half to St. Christopher's two.

Gekara Mogeni scored two tries, was strong from the back of the scrum and in open play was hard to stop. The wingers Hussein Khalil and Joseph Kituku were elusive and fast and Hussein was rewarded for his efforts with a score in the corner, to open his account for the term. Munzir Khan was effective both in attack and defence and also picked up a five pointer. The big boys of the pack made good ground and once the confidence to ruck with more enthusiasm grows, they will be a difficult unit to counter.

Despite the 36-24 score the team continues to demonstrate heart and and an improving level of organisation and it will be interesting to see how they fare in their next fixture.
