Year 3 Plants Experiment

19th September 2022

Last week in Science, Year 3 was investigating the function of the stem in a plant.

We put blue food colouring in water to make it a different colour. Then we put celery into the water and left it over the weekend. When we came back to school, we saw that the leaves had started to turn blue. We think that the water is transported to the leaves by the stem because we could see bits of the stem had turned blue too.

We really enjoyed the investigation, especially when we cut the celery up!
