Year 5 Boys' and Girls' Hockey v BGR Match

27th January 2022

Year 5 Girls' Hockey v BGR

Braeburn Gitanga Road hosted our year 5 girls on Tuesday. The girls were nervous, but made an exciting start as Sarah quickly gained possession and displayed her dribbling skill. Against the run of play BGR took the lead, but that was to be their only goal as the yellows went on to dominate.

Chloe's dribbling was clever throughout the match, and Sarah's shooting was deadly, as BGE stormed to a 4-1 victory. Well done to all of the players, but the MVP goes to Sarah for a great hockey debut.

Year 5 Boys' Hockey v BGR

The boys were a little apprehensive before the game started, with this being our first fixture, but soon got over it once the whistle had blown. BGE dominated the first half, with good spells of possession creating a number of half chances, and on the stroke of halftime, Isaac converted a close range shot to make it 1-0 at the break.

In the second half, the boys defended well and continued to dominate the midfield area thanks to MVP of the game, Samuele, who played very well and was crucial in the two goals scored in the second half. BGR managed to score a consolation goal in the last few minutes of the game, after a brace for Vidan had capped a good all-round performance from the team in their first competitive fixture. Final score: 3-1 to BGE.
