U15 girls hockey triangular on 15.01.22

Our first run out was met with a mixture of nervousness and excitement as we took on Hillcrest and Braeburn Gitanga in a 7 a-side hockey triangular.
Playing Hillcrest in the first match, shock set in as our girls realised just how much hard work hockey is on a full sized pitch against competitive opponents. As the more organised and skillful team, BGE took possession for most of the 30 minute game but ended with a 2-1 loss; disappointingly, unable to convert shooting opportunities all too often.
Later against Braeburn Gitanga, the girls were determined to prove they deserved a win from the day. Some faultless plays were pieced together, in particular from Maya, Lily and Maggie but again, to no avail. Eventually, in the dying moments Maya struck a beauty to finish the game 1-0 to BGE.
Upon reflection it was a fantastic return to sport for the girls. They look ahead to their next fixture on Monday 7th Feb at BGE.
