U9 Netball vs BGR

A Team
The U9 A girls played their opening match against BGR. The girls warmed up and were in an optimistic mindset. The court was filled with anticipation from both teams as this was their first game. We won the toss and Lizzie, our captain, took the first center pass, giving Reagan a chance to step out wide and used the opportunity to pass the ball to Lilly who took the first shot at goal.

By the second and third quarters both Shanique and Chloe had saved quite a number of goals from the opposition and our attacking team had scored 3 goals. It was a terrific game and a great learning experience.
MVP was Reagan, final score was 3-3.

B Team
The U9 B girls team traveled to BGR for their first ever netball friendly match. It was an exciting moment for them meeting another team, however, they were a bit nervous. The girls played four quarters and they showed some excellent use of netball skills learnt by making different passes, and keeping the ball in possession for quite a while. Overall they kept a draw 3-3.
Well done to all the girls for their great effort.

C Team
The girls were enthusiastic to play against Braeburn Gitanga. BGR scored first and we didn't get to score until the second quarter of the game. The girls showed great teamwork as they passed the ball from the GK, Ayla, to meet the hands of the magical GA, Suhani, who netted the ball. Alina played really well to defend our goal leading to a full time score of 1-1. The MVP of the match was Suhani.

D Team
During the game, we focused on understanding the rules of netball, improving skills and, most importantly, enjoyment. The girls proudly displayed how they had quickly grasped the rules of the game. Unfortunately, we lost, but it was a good learning curve for our new team. Player of the match was Danica. Well done to all of the girls!

U9 Rugby vs BGR
A Team
The boys were looking forward to their first rugby match. To most of them, it was their first ever. They were a bit nervous at the beginning, and it reflected in how they played early on, as we conceded two quick tries to trail 10-0 after the first quarter.

In the second quarter, we scored a try, and we were unfortunate to concede two tries again just before half-time. We had a team talk at the break and the boys went back more composed as they had slowly grown into the game.

In the third quarter, BGE defended better and had better team plays. Jospeh had his impact on the game as he scored two brilliant tries thanks to his pace, and had a very important tackle to deny the opponents a try. In the last quarter, Gbolabo came out ready to outrun the opponents, and so he did, as he ended up with two well-deserved tries as he proved too fast for his opponents.

The game ended in a narrow loss, 25-30. It was a very good learning experience for the boys who finished the game in high spirits and you could tell the excitement as some were happy to make their first tackle and try as well.

B Team
BGE lost another tight match 30-35. The team played well, were in the lead at certain points in the game and had lots of chances to score. Achille was the standout player with some excellent tackles.

C Team
The rugby C team stormed to a famous victory over BGR on their first outing. There was fantastic passing, tackling and teamwork from the boys, and a real will to win, which was pleasing to see. The whole team was man of the match!

D Team
A great effort from the U9 D team saw them lose a close game with BGR. Every boy should be proud of their effort - some playing a competitive rugby match for the very first time. A fantastic afternoon!
